Travel to match
Method of Travel: Car
Travelling time: 2hrs 0mins
Picking up Nathan, Chris and Sarah we left Carlisle at 11:30am and using the M6, M58 and A59 we parked up at Stanley Park at 1:30pm. Although the ground was easy to find I was surprised that it wasn't signposted very well.
Pre-Match
After paying our £8 (!!!!) to leave the car at Stanley Park we walked around Anfield, home of Liverpool. Once doing a tour of the outside of the ground we walked to Goodison and popped into the club shop which had a very poor selection of stock. The others waited for the players to arrive whilst I went to pick up the tickets and take phhotos of the outside of Goodison.
Stadium
Goodison Park is a classic stadium, one of the favourite ones I've been
to.
Admission
It cost £33.00 to sit in the Upper Bullens and the view of the pitch
was excellent. The seats were old wooden ones but were comfortable enough
the only dissapointing thing was you couldn't see all of the stadium due
to the sloping roof.
Programme
£3.00 got you 84 pages and it was a fairly decent read.
Food and Drink
Despite having a few butties earlier in the car I fancied something else so got a steak pie for £2.50. I wish I'd gone large on it for another 50p as the large ones were absolutely huge!!! The usual overpriced coke at £1.70 was also bought.
The Game
The game was good with a few chances for both sides. Everton were easy winners in the end and I think Middlesbrough may struggle to survive this season.
Home Fans
The Everton crowd were loud when they scored and when there was attacking play, but other than that I was disappointed to say they were very quiet. I was expecting a lot of noise from them.
Away Fans
Were there any Boro there? If there was I didn't once hear them. I know
they don't take big numbers away from home but to not hear them sing once
or even a roar when they came close to scoring was poor.
Stewards / Police
The stewards seemed fine and were happy to let me take photos before the
game.
The Ref
Mike Riley did his best to spoil the game blowing his whilstle at every
opportunity and he didn't give Everton much all afternoon. Very poor indeed.
The Journey Home
Travelling time: 2hrs 05mins
After the others had finished their ice creams and got ourselves sorted we were out of the car park by 6:15pm and then hit a bit of traffic until getting on the M58, which thereafter was fine. We were back home for 8:20pm.
