Wolverhampton Wanderers Ground Tour
Date: Tuesday 15th November 2005
Team: Wolverhampton Wanderers
Stadium: Molineux
I took advantage of a work event in Birmingham the following day by driving
down to the West Midlands and stopping over the night which meant I could
visit Molineux as well as The Hawthorns,
home of West Bromwich Albion.
Molineux was well signposted from the M6 and I parked up in Asda behind the Stan Cullis Stand for an hour.
Molineux has been completely re-built in the early 1990's but this is one of most attractive exteriors of a stadium I've seen. The club colours are very prominent and the club signage is impressive using the club logo and “WW” where possible which gives the impression that the club have given the re-build some thought.
I had enough time to go into the club reception where I asked if it would be possible to get inside the stadium for a few photos. Fortunately the club historian was there and was more than happy to take me on a mini-tour of the ground. He showed me the changing rooms and took me down the tunnel and into the impressive arena.
Molineux is probably going to be one of my favourite grounds once I've taken a match in there- though I like it that much I may think about leaving it to one of the last.
