Millennium Stadium Ground Tour
Date: Sunday 1st February 2009
Team: Wales' National Stadium
Stadium: Millennium Stadium
I've
been to the Millennium Stadium twice before with Carlisle United at LDV
Vans Trophy finals but I still fancied taking in the tour as it is unlikely
I'll be back in South Wales for some time.
At only £6.50 the tour consisted of the following:
- Meeting at the shop
- Entering the stadium passing a list of matches that have took place since it's re-development
- Seeing the original Arms Park area of the ground
- Viewing the boards listing all players who have received WRU International honours
- Dressing room
- Seeing the VIP entrance
- Tunnel
- Standing pitch-side
- Up to level 6 and into the stand
- Down to level 5 where the 123 executive boxes are (an average of £30k to hire one of these, though the most expensive is around £100k a year)
- Royal box
The tour was excellent and fully recommended and the guide gave some interesting stats such as the stadium holding 7% the capacity of Wales, it costing £186m, the roof being in two parts which weigh 400 tonnes each but only take 20 minutes to close etc.
Statistics
Stadium character: 8/10
Wish to go back to stadium: 9/10
